media conversion policies

  Athens Video
Every conversion starts with the digitization process. We do not convert anything straight to CD or DVD set top recorders. All analog transfers are digitized onto our  hard drives. Digital media conversions, such as SD cards, are copied onto our hard drives, then converted.
  • All work stays here.
  • All digitized content is stored on our drives for two weeks after client has picked up order.
  • All work is guaranteed - if your video or audio doesn't work, we will fix it.
  • If audio levels are low, we will raise them to acceptable levels as part of our process
  • Multiple tape orders are analyzed, grouped, and combined onto single discs if possible or desired.
  • If you bring in a box of tapes, we will help you sort it out.
  • We number each tape, and give you a cross reference sheet with tape lengths and disc numbers.
  • Each disc has a custom menu and label.
  • Final content is not copy protected. You can make copies as much as you want to after you pick it up.
  • If you bring in a tape, we can make a DVD, a youtube or web video, or just copy the original video file to your hard drive. DVDs are not the only choice anymore.
  • Everything is checked. After the initial transfer is made, another employee will check it against the original to make sure all content is there. Spelling and encoding errors are checked as well.
  • If extra content is on the tape such as television shows, snow, black video with no audio, or anything unwatchable, we will not transfer it unless you want us to. If there is 10 minutes of "Full House" in the middle of your home movies that accidentally got recorded, we will not record it. No charge.
  • If you are unsure about the content of a tape we can let you see some of it here before you commit to getting it transferred.
  • If you need a precise quote on large orders, we can time each tape out and see the exact length. There is an extra cost for this estimate, but it can be applied to the final bill.
  • All video is encoded at the highest possible bit rate to match the size of the disc or web restrictions.
  • On DVD discs, 5 minute chapter marks are included for easy navigation.
  • All orders get a plastic clamshell case.
  • We do not have a one tape per disc policy. Tapes can be combined onto one disc within the limits of that disc.
  • For transfers that may get duplicated in the future, we can keep a copy at the office so that you may call orders in.
  • All conversions are edited on the front and back ends. If your tape has 10 minutes of blue in the beginning, and 20 minutes of black video at the end, it will be edited out.
  • We keep your content private: You will not see your content on youtube. We will not discuss your content with others. That is our promise.
