A Gift of Conservation

 See our video on beautiful, and newly restored artwork created by Athens native, Mary Franklin. Mrs. Franklin was born on February 25, 1842 and trained as an artist in Paris. She loved the University of Georgia so profoundly that upon her death in 1928, she donated her entire estate to the university. Part of this donation included a series of paintings that were hung on campus in the Georgia Museum of Art. Doctor Hildegard Timberlake and her son, Tom, wanted to restore the paintings to their former glory, and were able to sponsor the restoration of the Tunisian series of paintings.
