Athens Heritage Foundation Walking Tours 01/29/2012
At the end of last year, we filmed 14 Historic Walking Tours of Athens for the Athens Heritage Foundation. It's been a great effort, and editing them has been taking longer than expected. But we do have over half of them finished now, and they are available to view on our website. The tours are very fun and interesting, and will be a valuable asset to the people who are interested in learning more about Athens. http://www.athensvideo.net/athensheritagefoundationtours.html or check them out on our vimeo page http://vimeo.com/album/1789682 Add Comment Tape Transfers NEW PRICES 12/28/2011
We are officially changing our tape to DVD process and prices now. In a nutshell, our process is better, and the end result is better. AND the prices are cheaper. We used to have two levels of transfers - Basic and Advanced. We're now doing all transfers as "advanced" but billing them as "basic". This makes our tape transfers more competitive with the "transfer mills" process and prices. Our main advantage will always be
The mills do a good job most of the time with easy tapes, but if you have problem tapes, a lot of short tapes, or anything that remotely falls out of the norm, they just can't handle it. Their main selling point in my opinion is the DVD packaging they provide. Most of the mills provide you with a very fancy case and printout for your transfer, and that is not a service we provide at this time. If that is more important than the transfer, than you will want to use their services. Merry Christmas to All of Our Clients! 12/22/2011
I doubt any of our clients read this "blog". but if they do we want to wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays. We really have the best clients and we appreciate and love them. And we are very glad that they trust us and keep bringin gus more projects. We have had a great year in 2011, and for that, we have to thank our clients. So thank you. Sigma Delta Tau Greek Grind 2011 10/20/2011
Last night we filmed and webcasted Sigma Delta Tau's annual Greek Grind. The show was great as always, but because of it's huge success, SDT always sells out tickets. This year they wanted to accommodate people who wanted to see it but couldn't get tickets. So they asked us if we could webcast the show from the Classic Center and send it to Magnolia Bar where they had a big viewing party. Magnolia's was packed, and they had two projectors running the show - it looked and sounded great. Thanks to the Classic Center and Magnolia's for helping us coordinate the webcast and make it look easy. Center for Court Innovation Video Shoot 09/11/2011
We were very fortunate to have the Center for Court Innovation http://www.courtinnovation.org come down and contract us to help them document some very important and interesting court innovations happening in Athens, Georgia. It was a busy shoot that happened at the Athens Clarke County courthouse for 2 days. Hopefully the final video will be available on their website when it is done as it looks to be a very good program. UGA Center for Family Research 09/01/2011
We had a great shoot today for an important project being done by the folks at the University of Georgia's Center for Family Research. They enlisted the help of a well known actor who lives in Atlanta, GregAlan Williams. He was great to work with as was everyone from the Center. Rent a Crew! Leave your sandbags at home. 08/30/2011
If you are from out town and will be filming in Athens, or if you are a producer and need a crew, then please think about hiring Athens Video for the video production phase of your project. If you are coming from out of town, there is no need to bring your equipment, as we have almost everything you'll need (I say almost because no one can have everything). We have several clients who simply hire us to film, then they take the footage with them for editing. I am reminded to mention this because we have a new client based in New York coming down for a few days and they will be hiring us for the video production phase of their project. It will require cameras, lights, audio, teleprompter - and all the little things that you might need. Video Delivery to Clients 08/26/2011
Only ten years ago, most of the videos we worked on were delivered to clients on VHS tape. Actually, everything was delivered on some type of tape. Then about 7 years ago, everything slowed began to be delivered onto DVD. It was a slow transition. Now, so much of our final products are being delivered to clients via the internet. This is not so easy. You cannot just email a 500M file. Because storage solutions are changing all the time, our methods of delivery are changing all the time. We are no longer using the older FTP method, which is actually effective, but difficult for many clients to login, and there are platform compatibility issues. As of now, we are using an effective method of temporary storage of final products to a cloud-based server. We then add a direct URL link on our client's page (which no one but the client has access to). Client's do to their page, and click the download link, and save the final version to their hard drive. It's not quite a simple as that, and as technology changes, so will this process. But it provides a way for clients to have anytime access to their video files, and they can share the link with anyone they need to. Here are some photos from our first walking tour. We had a crew of three people working on this. Chris Daniels is working the main camera. Alex Hanson is on the second camera, recording b-roll. And Sarah Gutierrez, an intern from UGA, is working the boom. University of Georgia Sorority Rush 08/18/2011
We just got through another year of making videos for sororities to highlight their Philanthropic work. These videos are required to show during Recruitment (or Rush) as a way to remind pledges that joining a sorority is not just for social reasons. We always enjoy working on these videos, and I have great respect for all the sororities and what they do in terms of fundraising and community involvement. The sororities get a lot of bad press, and this is one side of them that the community doesn't get to see very often. It would be nice to share some of the videos we have done, but that is not possible. You'll just have to go through recruitment to see one. |
